Stream Table Investigation
Our grade four Westies experimented with stream tables to learn about stream processes and how water and sediment interactions affect and alters landforms.

Paper Airplane Design and Engineering
Westies in Mrs. Widman’s class tested out their design skills and had a fun introduction to engineering by building some amazing paper airplanes. They had fun testing out their designs outside! Check it out here!

Celebrating Learning and Designs in PLTW

Our fourth graders had so much fun experiencing what agriculture and farm life is like at Wagner Farm. They had hands-on experience and fun trying out various activities of a real life farm. Check it out HERE!

Sharing is Caring at West! Fourth grade Westies shared their poetry with our third grade friends! Sharing and modeling the love of poetry and telling our stories at West! Check it out HERE!

All School Music Concerts at West!
All of our Westies did a fantastic job at our all school music concerts! Great big thanks and kudos to Ms. Porretta for all her hard work in preparing our students for such an amazing performance! Check out the pictures from both 3rd and 4th grade concerts HERE!

PLTW Builders in Action
Grade 4 builders in action at West! Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is a STEAM curriculum with a focus on hands-on creation and problem solving. Our Westies are collaborating in small groups and solving building-based challenges. Check out their work here!

Sones de Mexico Ensemble at West
West School fourth graders went on a musical journey through Mexico with Sones de Mexico ensemble. Westies enjoyed learning about and joining in on Mexican traditional folk music and dances. Great big thanks to our PTO for sponsoring this fun event! Check it out here!

Spring Chorus Concert at West
Congratulations to Ms. Porretta and all of our amazing chorus singers on a fantastic performance. Thanks to all the parents and family members for joining us on a wonderful night of music celebration at West…despite the tornado warnings and hail storm! Our performers did not disappoint! Bravo!

Little Free Library is HERE!
Little Free Library is here at West thanks to our Student Council student leaders! Our Student Council students with Ms. Spagnoli and Mrs. Gavenda were busy planning, designing and creating a library to share and promote the love of reading in our West School community. Great big thanks to Mr. Spagnoli for constructing and installing the beautiful new library at West! Spread the word and check out some pictures HERE!

Poet in Residence at West
Poet Bill Buczinsky is at West for poetry residence. He will lead student workshops to help our third graders create original works of poetry. At the culmination of this program, third grade parents are invited to an open mic poetry performance in the West School Library. Visitor Procedures
Please note the following updated procedures in place at West:
1. enter via the main entrance, buzz at the door, wait to be greeted by a staff member over the intercom, confirm your appointment/meeting
2. if you have a confirmed appointment, please be ready with your license so we may screen with our visitor system
3. please wear your visitor lanyard at all times while in the school for a pre-scheduled appointment
4. return to the main office, return your lanyard, collect your license, and exit via the main entrance
If you are simply dropping a lunch or item for your child, please do so in the vestibule. School staff will be monitoring for items throughout the day and ensure items are brought in for your child.
Our commitment to student safety is unwavering as we embark upon the 2022-23 school year. Thank you for working with our school teams as we implement these new procedures.

Please review the carline procedures for student pick-up and drop-off at West School.

West Absence Reporting
If your child will be absent from school, please report the absence with this FORM before 9:15 AM. You will be asked to share the date and reason for the absence. This information will be shared directly with Nurse Balling for attendance and follow-up purposes. In addition to this email, the online form can be found on the front of our West School website and under the Parent Resources tab.
